Q: Texas LPC has now merged with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (TBHEC). Will this information be discussed during the training session?

A: Yes, the change to (TBHEC) is happening (August-2020). This will be discussed, as well as any changes that might affect current LPC’s after the two organizations merge.

Q: Is this course approved by the LPC licensing board?

A: In short, Yes!

In 2019 the law requiring the 40-hour LPC supervisor training to be offered only by an approved provider changed. Now, the LPC board only requires that the course instructor to be an LPC Supervisor. Additionally, the LPC regulations require LPC Supervisor training courses to meet certain criteria. This online/live course meets the LPC regulations.   In to these two critera, your trainer is also a doctoral student of Counselor Education at Texas A&M Commerce.

Q: I didn’t think we could take the 40-hour training completely online. Did that law change too?

A: Yes, it did. Limits for online CEs were removed in 2019 from the Texas LPC Regulations.

Q: I have been a fully licensed LPC for three years. I can be a supervisor, right?

A: No. The LPC rules allow you to submit your paperwork for the supervisor designation only after you have been licensed for five years (60 months).

However, the certificate for this course will last for 24 months.  Therefore, you can take this course within your 24 month window of practicing for 5 years and THEN immediately turn in your paperwork to receive your Supervisor certification.

Taking the course now ‘Grandfathers’ you in prior to any future changes in rules, regulations, or additions to the time it may take to receive the Supervisor title.

It will also lock you into the current price structurer prior to any potential increases within the next 24 months.

Q: Is this course good for two years?

A: Yes.

Q: How long can I take to complete the course?

A: If you are an LPC, according to Texas LPC 681.147 you have 90 days to complete the course requirements.

I start the 90-day clock at the first day of any online work once you have signed up and paid for the course.  From that point, you have 90 calendar days to complete all of your coursework.

Q: I am an LPC and it has been 89 days and I do not think I am going to finish in time! What happens if I do not?

A: According to Texas LPC 681.147 you have 90 days to complete the course requirements. I start the 90-day clock at the first day of any online work once you have signed up and paid for the course. I cannot extend the time.

Q: I purchased the course and I realize now I just do not have time. Can I get a refund?

A: Unfortunately, no. This course is non-refundable because the material is available as soon as you purchase it.

Q: What if there is bad weather or a personal issue comes up and I cannot attend? Do a certain number of people need to sign up for the class to be held?

A: I understand other training companies only hold classes based on a minimum number of registrants, etc. All courses are held as scheduled. In the event of disruption of course schedule due to inclement weather, natural disaster, registrant’s personal reason, provider cancellation, etc., registrants can attend any alternative course of their choosing within 12 months without incurring additional expense. We can transfer over an in-person course to an at-home training whenever possible. Registrants are notified of any course change via the email address provided with registration. There are no refunds, so please make sure that you can attend before registering for a live course.

Q: How soon after completion of the class can I expect to receive my certificate for completing the class?

A:  You must have completed all homework prior to receiving your certificate of completion.  Once you have turned in all of the associated homework – and attended the class either in person or via Zoom – you will be given your original Completion Certificate.

If you are attending virtually, you will be mailed a copy of your certificate after I have received all of your homework and the Zoom session is completed.  The LPC Board requires a signed original of the Completion Certificate and will not accept a copy.
